Thearticle “WhitePrivilege: Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack&quot by Peggy McIntoshis about the privileges given to the white people but they don`trealize they have these benefits. Additionally, the central issuesdiscussed in the article include race, class, and gender and how thethree points can be used to shift the white people and women backfrom the benefits experienced from racism (McIntosh,1988).The central point that is noticeable in this article is the creationof awareness of privileges subjected to the whites in spite of theirdesire of doing away with racism. Consequently, the articleencourages the white students to carry out an investigation on theirpersonal experience on the issues of racism. Secondly, the secondpoint discussed in the article is the idea that only the whites orthe people of color understand racism.

Asa result, I am convinced that the essay is useful but I don`t agreewith the tendency of treating the white people as if they are having&quotuniform&quot experience as compared to the black people. However, McIntosh acknowledges that religion, class, ethnicity andother issues are inextricably intertwined giving privileges to thewhites. Thirdly, what we can learn from this article is that peopleare living in racism for example, a person is reasonably sure thathis or her neighbor after moving to a new neighborhood will obliviousbe neutral (McIntosh,1988).On the other hand, parents always arrange to protect their childrenfrom the people who do not “like” them. Lastly, the articleapprove that the school teachers and other employees always toleratethe children regardless of their race especially when they fit in theschools` norms however, the whites seems to be concerned more aboutrace and attitude directed to them by the black people. However, after reading the essay, I have realized that it strengths faroutweigh the weakness making it useful in today’s learningenvironment especially in when learning about heterosexualprivileges.
