Question2

StandardTest Method for

TheNumber of the standard is: ADJD0130

TheTitle of the standard is:

“Adjunctto D130 Copper Strip Corrosion Standard for Petroleum, D1838 StandardTest Method for Copper Strip Corrosion by Liquefied Petroleum (LP)Gases, and D4048 Standard Test Method for Detection of CopperCorrosion from Lubricating Grease + Active Standard”.

Thisstandard is made of reproductions that are in full-color of typicaltest strips that represent different levels of tarnish and corrosion. It is significant is assessing the color and tarnish level ofcorrosiveness to copper coming from the petroleum products. Thestandard is of significance as I am aware of corrosion standards withthe petroleum sector.

StandardPractice for

Thestandard number is ADJD761114CS

Thetitle of the standard is:

“Adjunctto D7611/D7611M Standard Practice for Coding Manufactured Articlesfor Resin Identification + Active Standard”

Thepurpose of this standard is that it is used to code manufacturearticles to allow for ease of identification of resin. In doing theidentification, the types, names as well as the sizes of the codesfor the materials are captured. Usually, it is made up of graphicrepresentations of the Resin Identification Codes (RIC) in the mannerin which they are molded, imprinted or even through the raisedsymbols or wording. The standard has been helpful as I have learntthat the RIC are used only in the identification of plastic resinthat are used in a manufactured article and nothing else.

StandardGuide for

Thestandard number is ISO / ASTM51539 – 05(2013)

Thetitle to the standard is

“StandardGuide for Use of Radiation-Sensitive Indicators”

Thestandard guide is essential as it covers the procedures that arecritical when using the radiation sensitive indicators when doingradiation processing (Farrar, 1995). The main goal of using theindicators is to help establish the status of a product in terms ofirradiation as opposed to measuring the different levels of dose. Ihave learnt that the standard does not support all the safety issuesthat are raised within it especially those that are linked to itsuse. Therefore, any user within the area has to determine the rightsafety and health practices to determine suitability of theregulatory limitations before using them.
