My Career: Recommendation 4Anursing career will be more significant in the overall success of thehealth care with this recommendation. By increasing the proportion ofthe nurses with baccalaureate qualification by 2020, the nursingcareer will be more reliable by both the health care institutions andpatients. This is because nurses with the baccalaureate qualificationare more competent at their work because of their exposure to higherlearning and training (RobertWood Committee, 2011).Increasing the number of nurses with baccalaureate degree willincrease the level of professionalism in the profession. This isbecause the baccalaureate degree equips nurses for better decisionmaking processes in their nursing practice.Inaddition, increasing the proportion of nurses with baccalaureatequalification will increase the role nurses play in health careinstitutions. This is because nurses will be more available to serveas many health care institutions as possible. It will be significantbecause the demand for health care is gradually increasing with time(RobertWood Committee, 2011).At the same time, the diversity of the population that is in need ofhealth care is increasing. Therefore, increasing the proportion ofnurses with bachelorette qualification will also increase thediversity of the nursing workforce. This will enable nurses todeliver quality services to a diverse population. My Career: Recommendation 5Thenursing profession will increase the knowledge levels throughresearch and specialized studies. This will increase the level ofdiversity in knowledge and the nature of the practice beingimplemented by the nurses. By doubling the number of nurses withdoctorate degrees, the nursing profession will improve in qualitydelivery because of the results of the studies and researches done bythe doctorate nurses(IOM Recommendations, 2011)Thisrecommendation will result to better and higher level ofevidence-based nursing practice because of the research conducted bydoctorate nurses. At the same time, evidence-based nursing practicewill be more practical in the basic operations in health careinstitutions. This recommendation will alsofacilitate problem solving in the nursing profession and make it moremeaningful in public health and the operations of the health carefacilities. This is because more doctorates will result to moresolutions to problems that they face in their practice, or in theirfields of study. This is because the nurses engage in research thatis informed by the new knowledge they are learning and the problemsthey face. Doubling the number of nurses with doctorate degrees willimpact positively on the nursing processes and research processes. My Career: Recommendation 6Thisrecommendation will make the nursing practice more professional andorganized on the basis of knowledge. This is because the continuousknowledge gained in the lifelong learning of nurses will increasetheir knowledge base that nurses gain in learning and in practice. Innursing, professionalism improves because of the constant learning ofnursing standards and new nursing guidelines as per the changingtimes (Sellman &amp Snelling, 2010). In addition, the recommendationof nurses being lifelong learners will increase their capacity toserve in diverse environments and populations. The nursing careerwill therefore be more relevant to diversities in the world andtransform with the changing world.Competing in the Job MarketIncreasingmy level of education improves my competitive nature in the currentjob market by making me more competent and able to serve. Increasingthe level of education makes a nurse not only competent but able toface the challenges that present in the changing and diverse healthcare environment (Cardillo, 2008). Therefore, the higher the level ofeducation I reach, the more capable I become to solve the challengesthat I face in the nursing profession. Moreover, increasing my levelof education will increase my professionalism in nursing byintroducing more knowledge and professional guidelines. Therefore, Iyearn to achieve the competitive advantage by not only learning, butpracticing my nursing knowledge diligently. My Role in the Future ofNursingIncreasing my level ofeducation will impact on my role in the future of nursing by makingmore significant and influential in my practice through serviceleadership. This will be important in the introduction of change inthe nursing practice through serving the community and mentoringother nurses. I believe that increasing my level of education willimprove my ability to assume leadership in both the public andprivate health care institutions. This will position me to becomemore responsible and committed to service.Inaddition, increasing my level of education will improve myunderstanding of the diverse needs of education in a diversepopulation. This will make me more useful in the nursing practicethrough the practice of the knowledge gained in education aboutdiverse populations. Serving in the diverse environment caused bydiverse population needs a nursing practice that is informed aboutthe diverse needs and responsive to the changes (RobertWood Committee, 2011).Therefore, gaining more education will be not only important to mypractice, but necessary for me to be useful to the population. Thisway, I education will make me more relevant to the health careindustry and to the nursing profession. References
