Theissue of &quotindividualism&quot has brought a lot of differencesin the workplaces. Additionally, according to Firth-Cozens &ampMowbray (2001), there are various values, personality, and attitudesthat influences or hinder effective leadership in a workingenvironment especially in the health care institutions. Moreover,after someone becomes a leader in the healthcare environment, chancesare they the change their transient or stable features influence howthey perform their duties and behave to other staffs and belowworking under them. However, according to an argument that was putacross by Rippon (2000), it is evident that most of the organizationscontract individuals with an expectation that hold specific skills,knowledge, personalities, abilities, and values.

Thisis not an exception to my case. I have some specific personalitytraits that am convinced influencing my leadership skills in thehealth care environment. Firstly, I can recall when I was learningthe various principles useful when managing a business or anorganization. I am convinced I am guided by theplanning-organizing-leading-controlling strategy in my leadership.However, I think that my personality, values, and attitude areaffecting the way I manage and approach the healthcare environment.

Whatis personality?

Tome, personality is an aspect of a person that influences thefeelings, stability, behavior patterns, and thoughts when exposed toa situation that is somehow challenging. Belling, James, &amp Ladkin(2004) affirm that every person has unique personality traits thatcan be differentiated from other persons around them. Consequently,it is easy to note one`s personality from the personality one canget a clue about the individual`s behavior, feeling, or stabilitybased on the current situation. To achieve an efficient management inthe healthcare environment, it is crucial to understanding mypersonality and compare it to other employees around me to ensurethat there are no chances of conflicts due to the differences.Additionally, having a clear knowledge of one`s personalities isuseful when assigning duties to the nurse in a health care facility(McKenna, Shelton, &amp Darling, 2002). For these reasons, I amconvinced that not all my personalities and traits contribute toeffective leadership in my nursing career.

Myfour personalities that influence or hinder effective leadership inmy career

  1. Openness

Opennessis one of my personalities that I feel have influenced effectiveleadership in my nursing career. I believe that I am original,creative, intellectual, curious, and open to new ideas developed bythe other staffs. Consequently, I feel that my preference in thehealth care environment is considered by many around me. As a result,this has helped in reducing conflicts or arguments when in theworkplace.

  1. Extraversion

Iknow that I have outgoing, sociable, talkative, and enjoy being insocial situations both with my fellow workers and the patients.Consequently, it is through my social personality that I have learnedto listen effectively to and understand the employees’ values andbehaviors. Additionally, through socializing with the employees, ithas become easy to know what they need, their goals, and attitudeconcerning the nursing career. As a result, it is easy to control andguide them as a leader.

  1. Neuroticism

Despitethe strong sociable and outgoing personality, I know that I am verytemperamental, irritable, anxious, and sometimes moody especiallywhen bored by situations. I feel that this personality trait hindersmy effective leadership. Moreover, some of the people I am leadingfear me after realizing the temperamental trait in me. As a result, Iam convinced that effective leadership requires understanding of thevalues, personalities, and attitude now that I have realized this‘bad’ trait I am willing to control it when handling otheremployees.

  1. Conscientiousness

Thispersonality trait refers to values such as being organized,achievement oriented, dependable, and systematic. These values havehelped me in build teamwork, setting goals for all employees, andencouraging them to remain focused on health care objectives.Additionally, there is an adequate enrichment in organizing healthcare activities both at the individual and group levels.
