Brainstorm One: (Free Writing)

Same-sex marriages have transformed the meaning of marriage unions because before its legalization, marriage was known to be the union between a man and a woman. However, since its legalization, millions of people within the United States have differing views and perceptions about this kind of relationships. Americans are divided on this kind of marriage because it disrupts the essence of pro-creation as well as nature. The concept of free-will is what has motivated people from all walks of life to freely embrace and reject this new found marriage union that is fast spreading across the world.

Brainstorm Two: (Breaking down a Topic)

Same-sex marriage is termed as the union of two people of the same sex. This is a controversial issue that has gripped the attention of the entire world once it became legalized in all 50 states in America. Religious institutions have opposed this legislation as it contradicts the biblical approach of God’s purpose of marriage. Despite all the controversial topics being raised across the country, one thing is certain, homophobia and discriminating against such couples is breaking the law. This means that those who oppose such marriages should refrain from publicly condemning same-sex couples because it will be perceived as infringing on their rights as a ‘normal’ couple.

Brainstorm Three: (Journalistic Questions)

Since the legislation of same-sex marriages, Americans are asking themselves a wide array of questions like, what is the country’s future if a man and man marry? Where will children come from? What will become of the American society within the next decade? Why have the religious leaders failed to challenge the Supreme Court’s decision to legalize this marriage union? What was God’s idea of marriage? Does God support same-sex marriages? Does the Holy Bible condemn this kind of marriage union? Do you feel proud to be called an American after the legalization of same-sex marriages?
