QuestionOne

Asstated by Swanson, Chamelin, Territo and Taylor (2012), Criminologyis a study of management, nature, extent, causes consequences, prevention and control of criminal behavior at individual and grouplevel. It is a discipline in behavioral science as well as inscholars of the law. The origin of criminology can be traced back to1885 by an Italian law scholar and professor by the name of RaffaeleGarofalo. In criminology, facts and evidence are very important sincethey provide prove to claims. There are different factors that areconsidered when making a prosecution that include the degree ofcrime, the effect of the crime and the law violated. Evidence andwitness are the most valuable factors to consider when filling acase. If a case does not have a witness or witnesses, and there is nosolid witness found then the basis to which the victim is heldagainst losing a stand.

Accordingto Swanson et al. (2012), Casey Anthony was initially accused offirst-degree murder of her daughter, giving false and misleadinginformation to law enforcers and aggravated child abuse. All theclaims piled on Casey Anthony were not based on solid evidence sinceno one had witnessed her commit the murder activity. Many of theaccusations that were made against her were later after aninvestigation proved not true. Some of the chemicals that was said tohave been used in suffocating the little girls could not be tracednor Casey Anthony DNA in the crime scene. According to my view, thesewere not the right charges to fill against Casey Anthony. She shouldhave been questioned on the issue of giving wrong and misguidinginformation to the law enforcers. If the court could have pursued thefact that she lied to the police, they could have unveiled if she washer daughter killer.

QuestionTwo

Deathby Poisoning

Deathby poisoning is very rampant in the current world. A study conductedin Utah, the year 2002 showed that death by poisoning contributed tomore deaths that car accident in a year. The study was conducted toshow how homicides and suicide cases resulting from poisoning haverisen since no or less investigation was conducted on such victims. The criminology department used this study to show the need toinvestigate and bring to justice the persons responsible for suchmurder (Warneret al., 2011).Although from the research many victims did not leave a death note toshow they were homicide cases their previous attempts contributed to13% of the cases. Through this study control and preventive measurescan be formulated to reduce related deaths by poisoning.

Deathsresulting from poisoning prove complicated to carry out anyinvestigation that happened a long time ago. There are methods thatare used to determine if the victim died out of poisoning. An exampleis the death of BB King, years later after his death her daughterspublished a report that he might have been poisoned. He died at theage of 89 years in Las Vegas. His death is attributed to allegedkilling by his business manager through poisoning (Swanson et al.,2012). The United States investigation board has started a researchto determine his death. The government is using Autopsy results thatwill take six weeks. Through Autopsy, the matter will be settled anda case filed against the manager if poisoning is determined to be thecause of the death. It is believed that the poisoning was donethrough food poisoning.

QuestionThree

Gunshots

Accordingto Swanson, Chamelin, Territo&amp Taylor (2012), good analysisduring death investigations require special skills ranging from thephysical cause of death and unphysical possible death causes. Deathinvestigators require these skills since in different death scenesthey might be presented with different death causes. There areelements that one should consider when identifying a gunshot woundthat include entrance and exit wounds. Through in some cases, entrance and exit wounds can be as a result of a sharp objectmajority of entrance and exit wound are as a result of gunshots.Entrance wound is symmetrical and smaller in size as compared to theexit wound that is marked by damages ranged tissues and brokenbones(Swanson, Chamelin, Territo&amp Taylor, 2012). Another keyelement to consider is the greying or darkening of the area aroundthe entrance wound in a ring form shape. The darkening is caused bythe burning of the gunpowder when it comes to conduct with the body.

Thereare three types of gunshot wounds depending on the range and theareas of injury. Depending on the areas of injury there is wound inthe chest, head and the abdomen. The gunshots that injure the headare the most dangerous and can cause instant death of the victim.Injuries to the chest and mostly on the left side are also fatal forthey might hurt the heart. Injuries caused in the abdomen are lessfatal as compared to those of the chest and the head (Hrabina&ampSigmund, 2015).According to the range of the shooting, there is short range, mediumrange and long range gunshots. The three gunshots have differentimpact and injury to the victim. With the short range gunshotscausing the most injury while the long range gunshot causes lessserious wounds.
