Whatis the Best Way to Diagnose Cancer?

Withregard to nursing the abbreviation PICOT refers to population, intervention, comparison, outcome, and time in relation to patients. The different ways in which PICOT questions revolve around includeprognosis, diagnosis, etiology, and therapy. On the other hand, databases give relevant information. There are different types ofdatabases, and they provide different forms of information. It isimportant to note that databases play a great role with regard toresearch(Melnyk &amp Fineout, 2011).For this paper, the clinical question leans toward the assessment ordiagnosis of cancer.

Thereare different types of databases that may be explored in relation tothe diagnosis of cancer. With regard to the PICOT question, Iexplored three types of databases. Firstly, the use of tables orspreadsheets has been a common way of obtaining information in adatabase. Additionally, use of the database thesaurus may be asuitable way of obtaining information concerning the diagnosis ofcancer. It is also salient to note that the use of keywords isimportant in obtaining information from databases. With regard to thediagnosis of cancer, there are certain keywords that are onlyaffiliated to the process (Melnyk&amp Fineout, 2011).

Forthis PICOT question, my preferred database leaned toward the use ofkeywords. This database allows the researcher to use words within, and without the database. These keywords emanate from titles, andother results in the database. Also, it is necessary to observe thatthere is truncation, and search operators symbols often incorporatedin this method of research (Melnyk&amp Fineout, 2011).These keywords are also derived from those synonyms that arefrequently used in the database. With regard to the PICOT question, there are many keywords. These keywords include biopsy, malignant, tumor, and benign, among others (Liu et al., 2012). Due to the factthat diagnosis of cancer is a commonly searched clinical topic, thereare often higher chances of obtaining the results (Sheldon, 2010).Consequently, there are levels of evidence available for the PICOTquestion in the database.
