A population of 20 children is also chosen because itis closer to the maximum allowed number of most states in the UnitedStates. In Florida, the number is 25 children in every classroom.This choice of room area and the maximum number of children willallow children enough space to operate within without hindering eachother or tampering with each other’s work. The development of a child is looked at through four major domains ofdevelopment. Therefore, the four domains of development should beincorporated in any daily school schedule because the all-roundgrowth of a child during a younger age is highly recommendable. Assuch, the daily school schedule discussed below will incorporate allthe four domains of development in childhood. The four developmentaldomains are physical, language, cognitive, and social and emotionaldevelopment. As a child develops, their focus on each of the domainsof development varies with the age of growth. There are times whenthey focus more on one domain than others. This may result in lowerdevelopment in the neglected area. For school-going children, it isthe duty of the teacher to ensure that development occurs in all areaequally at the same time. For toddlers and those who are still veryyoung, the parent should not be so concerned about neglected areasbecause even though one may not notice, development occurs in allareas equally.

Howchildren develop social and emotional skills depends on the nurturingrelationship they receive from the adults in their lives. In thiscase, the adults will be teachers. Fellow pupils will also serve asocial function depending on how the daily schedule is organized.Relationships are very key to the formation of proper social andemotional traits. Children learn how to manipulate and relate withthe environment and people around them depending on how they aretaught or how they see the adults around them doing it. Healthyrelationships with adults are instrumental in forging healthy andmeaningful relationships with peers.

Physicaldevelopment is very important during early ages because at thispoint, the child will be experiencing the highest rate of growth.They usually triple their birth weight after a year and quadruple itafter two years. Enough physical exercise does not only assist withphysical development, but with mental development. Some of theaspects involved in the physical development include fine motor,perception and self-care. Fine motor is the coordination and movementof small muscles like those in feet, toes, wrists, fingers, andhands.

Atthe age of between zero and six years, children should be developingfurther on their language and communication through class work.Communication and language are usually learned in the context of theculture of origin. Learning occurs through sight and hearing andshould be emphasized a lot in class work. Daily schedule shouldcomprise of activities that teach pupils both written and spokencommunication.

Learningbetween the ages of zero to four is usually remarkable, usually morethan any other point in life. Cognitive development refers to theprocess by which children learn and develop intelligence and othermental-related capabilities such as reasoning, thinking,problem-solving and memory.

Explanationof Activities

Writingworkshop is placed at the beginning of the day to liven pupils andput them into the mood for school. This is a process of learningwritten communication. It will involve students writing their namesamong other words and constructing simple sentences. Writing workshopwill include language experience writing and journal writing ofchoice. The teacher may also dictate words to pupils as they write.

Sharingactivities will involve pupils talking to each other and sharingtheir work. They may have to share their drawings, writing materials,pencils and markers among other materials. The essence of thisactivity is to develop the social skills of the pupils. As theyshare, they get to know each other and appreciate the work done byone another.

Involvingpupils in Mathematical activities is one of the best ways to developtheir cognitive capabilities. This will involve the counting ofobjects and simple arithmetic. The mathematics will employ skillssuch as addition, subtraction, addition, simple logic, simpleapplication, division and multiplication. Mathematics will be taughtas a whole class lesson and will also use manipulatives. Mathematicsis a highly engaging subject that should be followed by a shortrecess before resuming to complete the rest of the morning.

Readingworkshop will include activities that emphasize shared reading,response to read out aloud, guided reading, phonics lesson and quietreading. These techniques are meant to equip the learner withsufficient mastery of words and how to link words to constructsentences.

Themorning review will review all works done by pupils for the morningand identify points of weakness so that the pupil can be encouragedto improve on them. A free choice session allows the teacher time toobserve what pupils enjoy doing during their free time. This way, theteacher can identify interests and observe how they relate toperformance in that area. Lunch follows afterward. Pupils are taughthow to wash their hands and it is explained to them why it isimportant. The procedure for doing so is taught too.

Duringmuscle development, students are directed into physical activities todevelop their physical abilities. This activity comes immediatelyafter lunch to help with digestion and to prevent pupils fromsleeping in class. Pupils will be livelier for the rest of theafternoon after this session. During the last few minutes, studentsare left alone to run around and do what pleases them.

Sharingin groups develops social skills with peers in the group. Dance andmusic act as some kind of physical exercise and serve a socialpurpose too. It also puts students in a good mood in preparation fordismissal. Stress from the day’s activities is relieved throughmusic and dance.
